Oslo

We arrived at central station last night at about 4 pm to steady rain. The information centre was next door so I rushed in and asked for a map ,and a reasonably priced hotel. Saves a lot of hassle asking as there was no way we were going to turn up to the likes of the 'Grand' looking like drowned rats riding a bicycle.
The Perminalen was perfect. Close to the palace and the city centre.

It's permanently used by the Norwegian army and there were about 100 soldiers staying for parade duty today. We bought an umbrella and went out sightseeing.

What a beautiful city, and as an extra bonus the King was to receive the Polish president. It may have been wet but it was a real spectacle. Bands playing, cannons firing, police escort sirens!

This afternoon we headed off to our Air BnB . It was only 10 minutes walk from the centre but at about half the hotel price ,well worth it. Terese is our hostess and a wealth of local knowledge. I think that's what I like most about air BnB s . You get to stay in a real home
