Jelling

Despite all my tyre problems we still covered 73 kms yesterday so today is a rest/ sightseeing day

Right now we're debating whether to go on another metal road or stick with the seal .The seal won .
The Jelling burial ship

It was just 20kms into Jelling ( pronounced Yelling ) so after sending off webmail at a cafe we visited the Viking museum. The story was very well told.
The 2 burial mounds were for King Gorm and his wife Thyre. The stones tell the story, the big one says
"King Harald ordered this monument to be made in memory of Gorm his father, and Thyre his mother. The Harald who won all Denmark and Christianised the Danes .958.

He then apparently had them dug up and given a Christian burial in the floor of a church that was erected on this site for them
The present Royal family trace their lineage back to these people.
It's been a good break ,now I'm making dinner. Spuds, salad ,sausages
