Voyens

My god we're sleeping well. Up with the sparrows and raring to go by 6.30. A bit early even for us but we really wanted to make Voyens today as it boasts lots of accommodation. The road sign in the centre of Jelling said 73kms but the Haervejen takes a winding route ,I suppose joining villages together originally, and we eventually did 94.

Lots of forests through this section and the big heaps of prunings make a nice contrast with the many wild flowers . We're seeing deer quite often now.

Coffee break was at Vejen, about half way, also known as the Troll town so there were troll like sculptures everywhere.
It was also once the border town between Germany and Denmark after the 1864 war between them ( which Denmark lost) this amphitheatre was surrounded by monuments to poets and heroes of Denmark

Of course after WW1 the land was returned to Denmark, right back to its present border.

With so many thatch cottages and pretty little houses on small lanes you could almost imagine you were in England.

Or Holland! And what the hell are these doing here !

It may wander around but the road is a living museum. Information screens on some lay-bys and you never know when you'll come across some Bronze Age burial mounds

Then it may run for 5kms through a forest. Good for toilet stops 🙄

No it's not a Viking village ,it's our cabin for the night. I run down to the supermarket for vittles while Christine hangs the washing out
