Rabanal del Camino

What a great day !

The sun was just coming up showing a pink tinge on the ranges to the north and south of us.
The town of 'hospital de Orbigo'

Entering town over the old Roman bridge Puente de Orbigo..The town was named after the hospital that was here for the pilgrims .

Astorga. Once an important crossroads long before even the Romans !We loved the clock on the council building especially.

They took turns at banging the clock on the hour. Under this city is the remains of an earlier city from the Roman era. You can see the diggings from the pavement

This is Castrillo de Los Polvares, just west of Astorga and claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain. (No, we've seen prettier ).The bread man was making his deliveries

Christine's first flat in 2000 kms . These guys from Brazil were most concerned and hung around until we'd fixed it. Do we really look that decrepit?

This area was once gold mining country . We steadily climb into the hills through little villages .

Rabanal del Camino. Like a scene from the Wild West

And these are our new best friends. A bunch of old mates from the coast having a few days away. We had a FEW drinks and songs with them as they played cards and sang 😜😘😳
